FPS: detecting...

Deep dive time because I love this stuff. The magma slide was discovered by a YouTube user named FrequencyT in the middle of 2007. His channel was deleted a few years ago. Here’s the oldest video that comes immediately to my mind showcasing this glitch on March 25, 2008 (https://youtube.com/watch?v=pgngZ6ZuozU&pp=ygUSdGVuYWNpb3VzIGdsaXRjaGVz&ra=m) Before yesterday, it was only known to me that the magma slide could be performed on NTSC after having gone online (on a vanilla server). I stress vanilla sever because Horizon is not a vanilla server, and they patched the magma slide a few years ago. It’s performed by pressing square and R1 at the same time until you notice your magma cannon doesn’t shoot before you wrench. When the magma cannon shot doesn’t register, quickly press R1 while your character is in wrenching motion and you will slide. While in the magma slide state, your character is frozen. You can’t switch weapons or get out of it unless you’re damaged, die, get in a vehicle, hacker ray in Conquest etc. The magma slide can be performed in local play and campaign. To do this, start a game online on a vanilla server, leave the game, exit back to local play or campaign and you’re all set. There’s also an altered magma slide state a player can get in by doing three wrenches before firing the magma cannon (see attached clip) where the player can exit the magma slide state, but it’s not propelling the player forward constantly. Radu claims to have done something I wasn’t aware of. I’ve never been able to perform the magma slide jumping straight to campaign or local play. I always had to go online to trigger the game state for this to occur. Radu says he’s not playing off of a saved state that was created after exiting online. If that’s true, that’s an interesting find!
